short courses

Short courses are three to four sessions and may be on one of the topics below, or another that you have questions about. If I am not the right person to work with you on a specific question, I can help you find the right person to work with.

When we cause harm

Collect your people

Have you caused racial harm, despite your best intentions? We’ve all been there! We will work together toward accountability, amends, and reducing future harm.

(gratitude to Mariame Kaba, Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, Mia Mingus, Ejeris Dixon, Sonya Renee Taylor)

We (yes, me too) will explore our feelings about and relationships with family, coworkers, friends, etc. to brainstorm where we can engage effectively in dismantling white supremacy among those we personally know. We will plan for conversations and how to hold them, and then check back in to see how these conversations went, providing both accountability and support.

Oppressed white people

Avoiding spiritual appropriation

How does an identity as a poor, disabled, trans, queer, or otherwise marginalized white person intersect with white supremacy in the body?
(gratitude to Dr. Kimberlé Crenshaw, Sonya Renee Taylor)

How can we avoid appropriation in our spiritual practices?  Can we enter into communion with our ancestors and/or their traditions without appropriating the knowledge, rituals, and sacredness of other cultures?

(gratitude to Lama Rod Owens, IFOT/ITFL training, Eleanor Hancock, Ancestral Apothecary, Erin Caitlin Sweeney)

Policing you & me

Brilliant darkness

How we police, how we are policed, & alternative visions of safety
(gratitude to reverend angel Kyodo williams, Dr. Kesha Fikes, Mariame Kaba, Alex Vitale, St. Louis Coalition Against Police Crimes and Repression)

Decolonizing our minds around both darkness and Blackness
(gratitude to Audre Lorde, Amana Johnson, Ibrahim Baba, Darlène Dubuisson)
